Privacy Policy
Last Updated: March 2026
1. Introduction
Your privacy is important to us. This Privacy Policy explains how Alto collects, uses, and protects the data generated when you use our Discord Bot and Web Dashboard. By using Alto, you consent to the data practices described in this policy.
2. Data We Collect
To provide our services, we collect minimal and necessary information via the Discord API:
- User Data: When you log into the dashboard via Discord OAuth2, we receive your Discord User ID, Username, and Avatar URL.
- Server Data: We fetch a list of servers you are in to determine where you have Administrator permissions to manage Alto's settings. We also fetch Server IDs, Channel IDs, and Role IDs when you configure the bot.
- Message & Activity Data: Alto temporarily reads messages in channels you designate for "Voting & Submissions" to parse music URLs and track reactions (likes/dislikes) to manage the Leaderboards and Song Card minigames.
- Vote History: We permanently store records of which links a user has voted on to power our "Anti-Cheat" and "One Vote Per User" systems.
3. How We Use Your Data
We use your data strictly to operate and maintain Alto's functionality. This includes:
- Displaying accurate, user-specific leaderboards and statistics.
- Authenticating you securely into the web dashboard.
- Routing bot messages and announcements to the correct Discord channels.
- Processing Alto Premium subscriptions (payment data is handled securely by our third-party payment processors, such as Stripe or PayPal, and is never stored on our servers).
4. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties. Data is only shared in the following limited circumstances:
- With trusted third-party payment gateways strictly for processing Premium subscriptions.
- If required by law, or to comply with valid legal processes or Discord's Terms of Service.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
We retain server configurations and leaderboard data as long as Alto remains active in your server. If you enable the "Erase User Data on Leave" feature in your server settings, Alto will automatically delete a user's leaderboard submissions when they leave your Discord server.
If you wish to have all your personal data, vote history, or server configurations manually wiped from our database, you may request complete deletion by contacting us via our Support Server.
6. Security
We implement industry-standard security measures (including secure cookies and database encryption) to protect your data from unauthorized access. However, no internet transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
